In the aftermath of Stonewall, a newly politicized Vito Russo found his voice as a gay activist and critic of LGBT representation in the media. He went on to write “The Celluloid Closet,” the first book to critique Hollywood’s portrayals of gays on screen. During the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, Vito became a passionate advocate for justice via the newly formed ACT UP, before his death in 1990.

Legalize Gay
https://www.facebook.com/LegalizeGayMovie
LEGALIZE GAY is a documentary that captures the courage and conviction of a new generation of activists — gay and straight — as they campaign for LGBT equality in marriage, non-discrimination in sports and at work, same-sex sex education, standing up to bullying and forging inclusive college campuses. They are taking these stands often in parts of the country hostile to LGBT rights.
‘Yes, there’s change. And it’s often times at the hands of these young people, very boldly and very out, doing what they have to do,” said Shane Windmeyer, executive director of Campus Pride, which promotes LGBT equality at universities across the country.

United in Anger: A History of ACT UP
http://www.unitedinanger.com/
UNITED IN ANGER: A HISTORY OF ACT UP is the first feature-length documentary about how ACT UP (the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power), a small group of men and women of all races and classes, came together to change the world and save each other’s lives. The film takes the viewer through the planning and execution of a dozen exhilarating major actions including Seize Control of the FDA, Stop the Church, and Day of Desperation, with a timeline of many of the other zaps and actions that forced the U.S. government and mainstream media to deal with the AIDS crisis. UNITED IN ANGER reveals the group’s complex culture – meetings, affinity groups, and approaches to civil disobedience mingle with profound grief, sexiness, and the incredible energy of ACT UP.

Kiss Me
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1859522/
http://wolfereleasing.com/info/title/kiss-me/
This is a love story with a twist: two stepsisters-to-be fall in love, creating turmoil and heartbreak for everyone involved. KISS ME pushes us into the unexpected — and for Mia, the film’s main character – the unexpected is exactly where she ends up.
Beautifully shot, warmly humorous and boasting an excellent Swedish cast (Lena Endre, Millenium; Krister Henriksson, Wallander; Joakim Nätterqvist, Arn the Knight Templar and Tom Ljungman, Patrik 1.5) KISS ME tells a strong probing story. It also features a fantastic soundtrack, including singer songwriter Jose Gonzales and Robyn.
